Several features will be added to the web pages of the journal, and perhaps to its printed pages. These will be published regularly on web after rapid reviewing, following their receipt in the editorial office, to add to those current features displayed on pages already published.

i.

Meet the professor is a provisional proposal that will feature a senior investigator who is invited to make a statement of 15-20 minutes on teleweb, and then questioned for 30 minutes by a selected panel of experts in the same field of study. The interview will be recorded, perhaps live, and published on web pages of the journal. The Editor reserves the right to publish the material in the paper issue. Details will be announced in advance, enabling viewers to witness the interview live. This service begins in 2001. This section may be extended to include Question the Experts where questions from patients and general readers will be put to leading authorities in a particular field. This section may also be extended to papers selected as best of the month.

ii.

Letters to the Editor will be printed on subjects not directly related to a particular published paper

iii.

Product arcade will provide technical details on new inventions, which are a mainstay in the rapid development and application of knowledge on reproductive biomedicine. This feature should enable aspiring inventors and companies to briefly describe their new instruments or processes. Contributions should be sent to the Editor, who again retains discretion in handling the contribution. Full details of any commercial interest held by each author must be presented, and prices should be stated in US dollars or UK pounds. It may be possible to extend this section to include some facilities presented at meetings, e.g. catalogues, questions about products, etc.

iv.

Manufacturers’ corner provides companies with the opportunity to present their new data as a peer-reviewed manuscript, giving details of methodology, critical analysis of results, applications and cost. These texts must be authoritative, fully referenced and illustrated. All contributions will, if judged to be of sufficiently high standard, be sent immediately to referees, and authors' responses will be adjudicated as for papers normally submitted. If the costs of publishing are high, e.g. due to the inclusion of many colour plates, the authors may be charged for publication. The inclusion of video evidence in these papers is being considered.

v.
